| What inspired you to become a Makeup Artist?
The first time I wore makeup, I instantly fell in love. It started off as a hobby wearing lip gloss and mascara, then quickly became a passion and something I urged to do. Being able to enhance, create and manipulate using the art of makeup brings such great joy, but it definitely goes beyond that when I can help a person look and feel their best, feel beautiful. Seeing their eyes light up when they look into the mirror reminds me of why I do what I do and just how makeup can really impact a persons life! There's a sorta confidence you get when you look beautiful and feel beautiful, you stand taller, your not afraid to be noticed. It's definitely a boost to your self esteem. What advice would you give someone looking to become a professional Makeup Artist? Practice makes perfect, In order to develop your skill in Makeup Artistry, you need to continually work on it. Practice on friends and family, shadow other artist in the industry and learn some of their tips and tricks. Remember you can always learn from your mistakes. It's in making mistakes you perfect your skill and develop new techniques. Do you have a makeup secret to help someone look younger? Skin care is important, take care of it. Use concealer to brighten up under the eyes, don't use to much powder, it can be aging, especially if you have dry skin. Use a liquid or cream illuminator to add a youthful glow to the skin, mix it in with your moisturizer or foundation, or dab onto cheek bones, bridge of nose and brow bone. What is the biggest mistake you see people making with cosmetics? Wearing the wrong shade of color on their eyes, lips or cheeks. What I mean by this is, that anyone can wear a blue eyeshadow but not everyone can pull off a bright sky blue. Just like how not everyone can wear the same shade of red lipstick. Choose the shade of blue that best compliments your skin tone, a bright sky blue may not work for you but maybe a navy blue does or a sea blue, get my point. Don't be afraid of color just choose the colors that best compliments your features and have fun with it! What three items would you want with you on a desert island? my iphone, lip gloss and water What is your biggest guilty pleasure? kettle cooked chips & Gossip Girl Where is your favourite place to relax? At home with no kids :) What are your favourite makeup product? I would have to say bronzer, concealer and lip gloss. What is the funniest thing that ever happened to you on the job? I love what I do, so working on the job is always fun! especially when you are working with a great team of people, there's always someone cracking jokes and making everybody smile.
